Please note: that there are many cultures through the different periods of history, and style as much as was back than is always evolving. Under these conditions, it is nearly impossible to cover all aspects of costuming and of obtaining information for all costume designing and dressmaking. In making this web blog, I hope to take the fear away of creation of your own historical costume, without the hard work of hand sewing the entire garment unless you wish too. In the first part of this blog, will be contained the information on how to take your own measurement and how with the use of math formulas which are relatively simple, make that custom fitted garment. We will also cover lightly certain historical rules that would dictate what an individual would wear, depending on their social class, wealth, and the year of representation. I Christiana will sometimes refer to a book or and manual that will contain further information, and will with my best of knowledge provide a source of where to find some of these books. But be warned, some of these books are rare to find books and can be rather expensive, so please try the library first before rushing out to buy that book.

It is recommended that you have a sewing machine, and understand its working before undertaking the project and a basic understanding of garment sewing. These projects like the Elizabethan wealthy class, can be a lot of work, and yes needlework to give it that royalty touch of the lords and ladies, or you may decide on a peasant garment instead, but there is one thing that is common to all, and that is the ability to take your own measurements and to make your own fitting pattern. This site is not a sale's pitch site, but a site for those that wish to make an attempt at creating historical garments, without the task of purchasing patterns, which in most cases may be incorrect to the time frame they represent, but they may cause the creative juices to begin making that wonderful historical re creation.

In the future, there is plans to create a chat room that will be used to communicate between those that are interested in costuming, but please be reminded that is is advisable to be a member of the Adrian Empire before one can be on the chat room. This chat room is hopefully to become the official communications to design a guild.

A note: Before undertaking re-creation of historical garments, it is advisable if you are in a creative anachronism group to begin formatting a historical fictional character of a certain era, and culture. This would be your first step in persona development, and the first step into during costuming which is a key part of protraying the persona.
